Vision:

Longmont Community Justice Partnership holds a vision for restorative justice being the first thought for resolving the harm of crime and conflict by all people.

The 5 R's

LCJP and Restorative Justice operate by a set of values we have come to refer to as The 5 R's:

  • Respect - Respect for all people involves withholding judgement and listening deeply to each person focusing on understanding and honoring different points of view.

  • Relationship - Relationships are restored when people involved respectfully address the harm done, take responsibility and repair that harm to the greatest extent possible.

  • Responsibility - Responsibility is taken when each person acknowledges the harm that has been experienced and chooses to be accountable for his/her role in creating that harm. It increases understanding and empathy.

  • Repair - Repairing harm strengthens self-respect. Setting aside retributive thoughts and asking for what can make things right builds relationship and makes reintegration possible.

  • Reintegration - Reintegration occurs once repair is complete. When people forgive and put wrongdoing and alienation behind them they move forward in relationship with each other and the community.

Values and Guiding Principles

Strategic Plan

"To cultivate a safe and caring community, reduce crime and bring together those involved in crime or conflict to be heard, creating justice for all."
